Modernizing Queue Partitions for Brand-Driven Spaces
In 2023, the classic post-and-panel crowd-control stanchion received a design overhaul, transforming brushed aluminum and steel structures into a sophisticated, branded queue partition system. This new approach uses smoke-tinted fluted polycarbonate panels framed in custom-profile extruded aluminum, supported by matte powder-coated square posts with weighted bases and spun steel covers. The result is a more refined, visually engaging solution for organizing customer lines and enhancing retail and venue environments.

Brand Compliance, Material Sustainability & Costs
Material choices were carefully evaluated for environmental impact, cost, and alignment with each brand’s identity. Smoke-tinted panel infills, edge treatment details, corner guards, spun base profiles, and connector slot grommets were reviewed to ensure durability, safety, and visual consistency. These material explorations resulted in a queue partition system that offered both functional performance and strong brand alignment.

Balancing Opacity, Materiality, and User Experience
Initial design explorations focused on high-touch materials and non-traditional forms to redefine how queue partitions look and feel. By experimenting with panel opacity, screen density, and structural geometry, the design team aimed to guide customer behavior gently while respecting the established brand aesthetic and ensuring that waiting in line becomes a more pleasant part of the experience.
